Quick Answer

Boom truck delivery uses a hydraulic crane mounted on a flatbed to lift and place pallets directly onto the floor of a building, up to 30 stories high. HB Build Pro runs boom trucks daily across Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, and the Region of Waterloo. Same-day service before 11 AM. Standard delivery fee covers everything within 50 km of Cambridge; per-km surcharge beyond.

How Does Boom Truck Delivery Work?

The driver pulls up to the curb, deploys hydraulic outriggers, extends the crane arm, and lifts pallets directly off the deck onto the target floor. For low-rise residential, the load lands on a balcony or window opening. For mid-rise commercial, the boom reaches floors 1 through 30 from street level. The crew on site is free to start hanging drywall instead of carrying it.

What Equipment Is on the Truck?

  • Flatbed: typically 24 ft to 32 ft deck
  • Knuckleboom or stick boom crane: 30 ton-meter to 80 ton-meter capacity depending on truck
  • Hydraulic outriggers for stability on uneven ground
  • Lifting forks, slings, and pallet hooks
  • Driver certified for the lift and the crane operation (no separate operator needed)

What Does Boom Truck Delivery Cost in Cambridge?

Fees vary by load size, distance, and floor height. Typical Cambridge jobs settle in the $250 to $600 range for the delivery itself. Compare against the alternative: renting a forklift at $350 per day plus operator, or pulling a 2-man crew off their drywall work for 3 hours at $150 per hour. The boom truck wins on every variable for multi-story sites.

Cost Range by Job Type

Job typeTypical feeWhat's included
Single-family home, ground or 1st floor$150 to $250Drop near garage / driveway
2 to 4 story residential, balcony placement$250 to $400Lift to balcony or window opening

For repeat contractor accounts, delivery fees roll into the project quote.

Which Materials Can Boom Truck Deliver?

  • Drywall (1/2 inch, 5/8 inch Type X, green board, cement board)
  • Insulation (fiberglass batt, mineral wool, rigid foam)
  • Steel and wood framing
  • Plywood and OSB sheathing
  • Ceiling tile (suspended ceiling grid and panel)
  • Tile setting materials and underlayments
  • Doors and door packages

What Are the Limitations?

Floor Height

30 stories is the practical maximum for the trucks in our fleet. Anything higher needs a dedicated tower crane.

Site Access

The truck needs 14 ft horizontal clearance and at least 25 ft vertical clearance above the curb. Low-hanging wires, balcony overhangs, and tree branches block placement. Send a photo of the curb side when in doubt.

Weather

Boom operations pause in winds above 40 km/h or active lightning. We reschedule same-day or next-day at no charge.
